Louis

Louie is a mix between Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm but darker...very dark.  Louie CK has written for the Chris Rock show and many different shows and movies.   This show is about a divorced comedian with 2 kids just living in NY doing gigs.  It's like if Seinfeld didn't make it.  He is just a regular guy.  It's not a "haha" comedy it's more of an observational comedy, which is fine by me b/c I really don't laugh at shows anyway.  This show is created and financed by Louie himself.  Companies weren't green lighting shows that he wanted to make, so he used his own money to make the show he wanted.   And it paid off!

Alcatraz Again

After breaking it down, at their current pace this show would not be over for 15 years!!

They say it's 308 inmates and they are only catching one per episode. So even if it's 25 episodes per season that would work out to 12 years. Gimme a break! Most shows don't last the first year let alone 12! The 2nd season better insert some new plot device or something b/c LOST was probably the last original great show and it struggled to get to a 6th season.

Top Shot

Top Shot comes on the History Channel and is about challengers competing to hit various targets with different weapons. Knives, guns, Arrows. Interesting show based on skills. Sidenote Jake from season 3 was an asshole and a coward.

Jeopardy Double Fail

Tonight 3/16/2011 I witnessed on Jeopardy two of the three contestants NOT make it to Final Jeopardy! Never have I saw such a thing. I suppose it happened before because asshole Trebeck didn't make a big deal about it but GEEZ that was crazy. Both contestants were in the red (negative score) pretty much the entire game and the champion was just sailing past and he had about 11K by the end of the first round. Final Jeopardy he was the only one there to answer the last question which he did get right but didn't wager a lot at all.

Storage Wars

About a year ago I start to notice the local City Paper advertise Storage Units for auction. I thought " hmmm that's interesting." Fast forward to now and there is a show on A&E called Storage Wars. The show follows about 4 groups of buyers and their journeys with their new belongings. Sometimes they end up with crap and sometimes they end up with great stuff. It's a very interesting show. The extreme of "One Man's Junk..."

UnderCovers -- Cancelled

Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw starred in the NBC spy drama UnderCovers. The story line was ok, but the dialogue was pretty bad and Hoyt the assistant tech nerd was very annoying. The show could have had a chance simply if it were better. I think the creator J.J. Abrams (of LOST, ALIAS, Cloverfield and Star Trek fame) was just banking on Black people being happy about a Black Spy show. Such was not the case. NBC isn't really the right channel for that sort of thing either so that was against them as well. If on the CW, or even FOX I think the show would have stood a better chance. The show was cancelled so they say because they weren't getting enough young viewers. I just don't think it caught peoples attention's after they saw the first two episodes. It was kinda crappy. Make a better show, get better ratings (not always true!)

TV Show: The Walking Dead

AMC is kicking ass in original TV series' at the moment. The Walking Dead opened with a great 1st episode. A Sheriff of a town in Georgia gets shot by fleeing criminals and taken to the hospital where he falls into a coma, only to wake up in a world over run with ZOMBIES!! I love a good Zombie feature so I'm pretty much all for this show to be great. The show gets to key points pretty quickly and doesn't drag things out of a season or 6 episodes down the line. A few things have sorta confused me through the first 3 episodes.

Spoiler Alert!!!

If wild escaping Hicks are shooting at you and you get shot, why would you take your vest off?? (In fact in most movies when people get shot why do they take of their vest right after??)

It was never fully explained how long he was in a coma in the hospital. Additionally, Zombies got into the hospital so why didn't they kill him?

When these guys put the guts on them to blend in...it would just so happen to pour down raining right?

Why did the Deputy Sheriff have to disarm the car alarm. Wouldn't the Sheriff had thought to do that??

Why have so many changes of heart about a guy that was about to kill everybody??
Funny how the dude knocks over the tool bag and drops the handcuff key down this mysterious drain pipe in one graceful dumbass fall. But the guy can now reach the hacksaw and cuts his hand off??!! But it was only one way off the roof, so how did he actually get away??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With all that being said it is a pretty decent show. I just hope that it becomes a bit more complex as the show develops.
TV SHOW KILLER - Anthony Anderson
He seems likable enough but this guy sure can kill a TV show. Law & Order has been on for 20 years and as soon as he gets on it they cancel it. The FOX cop show K-Ville cancelled! The Shield --- CANCELLED! Samantha Who? Cancelled!!!!! Tell this guy to stay away from Television because it will surely end in cancellation.
I just got a note that this blog has been cancelled...thanks a lot!!
WORK OF ART
Bravo's series WORK OF ART aired the finally last night with the winner being Adbi Farah a 23 year old Baltimore and Philadelphia native (and secret son of Puff Daddy). This show gave artists around the country a chance to show their talent through multiple challenges and exercises. The winner would receive 100,000. Abdi won over the judges with his depiction of urban life and the decay and desolation that can come of that environment. One of the show's other artists Miles was a wild character. He would go to sleep before challenges, read a whole book before a challenge and even made cement buttholes...yeah cement buttholes!!
This show displayed great challenges, good artists and creativity that is way beyond the average reality show that airs the same nonsense over and over. Hopefully this show keeps going and shines light on all different types of artists.
LOST
After 6 years of LOST aired it's final episode last week on May 23rd. The finale to me was good and it fit the story line of the final season. With that said though, there are still a BUNCH of unanswered questions and actions that make the overall story seem to not make sense. What was the point of half of the Losties traveling to 1977? Who was in the cabin? I mean the list can really be endless. I think that as individual seasons the show was strong but looked at as a whole cohesive story things seem to fall apart. Don't get me wrong I still love the show, I just wish somethings were either explained or wrapped up better. And the flash "sideways" thing turned out to be a disappointment. Overall this is a great show with great characters, all complex and deep. And I have never followed a show the same way that I have obsessed followed LOST and probably never will. It was truly a special show and I will miss it.
Gone In A Flash
Long hailed in Taylor tradition goes the adage "If you like it, it will go." So this goes up exponentially when more of us like the same thing. I should have known better when I got my father "hooked" on FlashForward that it was a goner, and not even into the summer break it was announced that the show was not going to get picked up for another season. I feel what the exec's are saying but as a regular viewer of TV just a guy, I have to look at all the variables. This show came on had 4 strong episodes then they put it (with V) on break for almost...if not... 3 months!!! Now that's a quick way to lose a fan base. I don't feel as though the show was giving proper time to develop. Or maybe it was just over people's head. V is just so stupid I could never get into it. These aliens who are wayyyyyyyyyy more advanced then we are..and have wayyyyyyy more fire power and soldiers then us...are trying to sucker us with the "We come in Peace" bit???? Just kill us, enslave us and take the planet...Show Over!! Maybe it was too many black people on the show....hell they made one dude jump off the building in one episode. Guess they said "well we can't have Courtney Vance, Gabrielle Union and Michael Ealy AND this guy," next thing you know SPLAT. I don't know what the deal was, I blame reality shows at the end of the day. They'll probably replace FlashForward with another hour of Dancing With The Stars.
What Did You See??? Whatever I saw it went any for 3 months now its cancelled.
Travel Channel
Travel Channel is the new food channel! The best new food shows are on Travel Channel. While the rest of their programs are a little too geriatric, the food shows are top of the line. Man Vs. Food is the ultimate in gluttony, but it is highly entertaining to see if host Adam Richman can defeat various food challenges from state to state. Sometimes the challenges seem so outrageous and far-fetched but he seems to complete a big percentage of them. I just hope he doesn't drop dead shooting one of this episodes trying to eat 7lb of steak and 1lb of potatoes and a half of cheesecake.
Bizarre Foods/Bizarre World hosted by Andrew Zimmern is an odd show, the host is very strange all by himself but the places he travels and the things that he eats are truly bizarre! He seems to eat anything and I've only seen him not like 2 things ever. From puffer fish to penis this guy is gonna eat it. The show is way more than a "what's this guy gonna eat next" type of thing though. It really serves as a guide and educator of different cultures and countries food practices.
Anthony Bourdain is the host of No Reservations this is no holds barred adventure, education, hands on, real people food. No "what strange stuff can I eat," no contest, no b/s. Anthony and a guide take you to the best spots in the that location for real everyday food. And he gives it to your straight, if he isn't feeling it that day he'll tell you, if it's great he will let it be known. This guy is not a gimmick and not a game. But its still a fun show. It's like travelling with your uncle to cool places and just hanging out.
Now only if Travel Channel got Bear Grylls (Man Vs. Wild) and Dirty Jobs I Might not ever have to watch the Discovery Channel ever again.
Everybodies a Somebody
Somebodies is a new show on BET. I just really checked it out last night. It was damn funny. I mean not all of it all the way thru but hell neither was Seinfeld. The observations made and pointed out are hilarious and the situations that the characters get into are brilliant. I'm hoping that this show doesn't get cancelled. BET needs this type of original programing to really show and prove that it is a true contender as a network.
