Pray IV Plain

Listen swagger and charisma be damned...I had high hopes for Jim's album...higher then some b/c of some other vested interests. But its sad that on Tuesday when I bought it... uploaded it to my Ipod...and listened it was pretty regular. The build up too this album has been higher than any of his previous efforts but the music is the same if not worse. There is no growth on this record. He first made the move to a major label...stole (borrowed) the semi-horrible "Pop Champagne" as a single let that fade away...put on a play...remix popular songs such as Asher Roth's "I Love College," and Kid Cudi's "Day N Nite." He was constantly on the Internet with interview videos and clips with him and Dame Dash and Rick Rubin. So the marketing power was there. But the actual album when you look at it doesn't back up all the media put behind it. Sub-Par records and production. Why get the fake T-Pain (Ron Browz) on your records...you ballin' get T-Pain...Why get fake Timbaland beat...get Timbaland. Then he gets Ryan Leslie but shoots a video for "Blow The Bank!!!" WTF!! Some dude named Oshy singing on it...its just some strange shit going on. And Dame knows what a good album is supposed to sound like (i guess) so why wouldn't he tell his man.."homie this shit ain't rocking." Jones album sold 42,000...if he was all the way still on Koch (E1..whatever) those would be fairly decent numbers...but given that this was a Columbia Records joint venture...even with the firings...he would have been better off all indy.
