LOOPER
The premise of this movie was great. It was original and not a got damn remake! It stars Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis. Good stuff right! A bearded Jeff Daniels is even in it. The 1st 60 minutes of this movie is GREAT! Then we hit that wall HARD! Once young Joe gets to the farm the movie starts to feel like quicksand. The direction we thought we were going is halted and detours fast. I was hoping it would get back on track but it was too far gone. And the ending while thoughtful and introspective was nothing more than a copout. What for it on Netflix or however you receive your movie view-age

End Of Watch
I haven't been to the movies much in awhile so when my father and brother both like a movie I had to check it out. Weird thing was they played a trailer for this movie AT this movie, very odd. I'm glad Michael Pena has a role that isn't goofy. Jake Gyllenhaal seems to pick good roles. The first person camera shooting documentary style is getting kinda old now though. Cloverfield did it, Chronicle, Blair Witch and Snow on The Bluff. This was like Snow on the Bluff mixed with Training Day. There were a few WTF moments that kinda took away from the film but overall it was done well. Dude with the knife in his eyeball was pretty awesome. And he got off way easier than a few other officers. This is a tale of Black vs. Brown vs. Black and White. And P.s. if a gang banger tells you that you have been green lit, I'd take his advice and lay low for awhile. Use those vacation days.

NFL Week 3 2012/13
I ended up going 9 (W) -7 (L) last week. Weird week for the start of a rocky, odd and interesting season. The biggest problem this season seems to be the interim refs. They are very confused and unorganized, and that is making for a lot of wrong calls and LONGER games! It feels like 2 outta 4 plays are being reviewed now. Roger Goodell needs to put an end to this immediately. PAY THOSE REFS!
Here are my week 3 picks
STL v. CHI --- WINNER -- CHI
BUF v. CLE --- WINNER --- BUF
TB v. DAL --- WINNER --- DAL (you never know what Dallas team is gonna show up)
DET v. TEN --- WINNER --- DET
JAC v. IND --- WINNER --- JAC
NYJ v. MIA --- WINNER --- NYJ (Jets are either gonna fly high or crash and burn)
SF v. MIN --- WINNER --- SF
KC v. NO --- WINNER --- NO (even tho it seems like the drama from last season is hurting them)
CIN v. WSH --- WINNER --- Tough one --- RBIII might be a cry baby not sure yet --- WSH
PHI v. ARI --- WINNER --- the fluke wins have got to end! but not this week PHI
ATL v. SD --- WINNER --- good game SD (never liked Philip Rivers and he is never going to amount to anything other then a QB that had a great potential)
HOU v. DEN --- WINNER ---HOU --- Houston has it together. The Broncos offense is still trying to figure out Paytons play calling.... Houston can stop McGahee.
PIT v. OAK --- WINNER --- PIT (is Carson Palmer still the QB over there? After he cried to get out of Cincinnati now you're stuck bumming it Oakland)
NE v. BAL --- WINNER --- oh boy! both teams coming off a loss, Baltimore at home and the refs don't know a damn thing. BAL
GB v. SEA --- WINNER --- SEA --- the Seahawks can only win at home against anybody of this I am convinced!
We will see how at all plays out.

The Return of the Snapback
Trends, Movements and Fads are really phenomenal things. In the late 80's and early 90's snapbacks were thee essential headgear for Hip-Hop culture. Everyone from NWA, Public Enemy, Tupac and Biggie wore them. Then around 1997 the entire culture shifted and moved to fitted hats. Cool because of there personal fit and style. After that finding a snapback style hat was like finding a Unicorn holding a 4 Leaf Clover.... it wasn't gonna happen. Even if you did come across one you wouldn't want to wear it because it was no longer cool.
Around 2000 Pharrell started wearing Trucker style hats, also Ashton Kutcher donned them. That style of hat caught on for awhile but didn't exactly take over as THEE hat to have. So it is kind of odd that 2 people could change the urban/Hip-Hop/head wear industry. Especially these two people. Taz Arnold and Tyga with no affiliation to one another pretty much changed it on their own. Taz Arnold was briefly signed to Kanye West's GOOD Music label in a band named SaRa, and later started his own clothing line TISA (Taz Is So Arnold). His popularity sky rocketed without really having any music out. his style sold itself and he is now seen as a Fashion Icon. He has had several collaborations with well established brands and his clothing line continues to be in high demand.
Tyga emerged from his cousins success (the dude from Gym Class Heroes) and at the time was rapping different than what was offered from the West Coast. His originality set him apart. Forget that he made that "Coconut Juice" song . After that he put out some decent stuff and his style started to be taken into account. From just these 2 wearing the snapback it is almost hard to find a fitted hat anywhere. In about another year fitteds will probably be exclusive to only online shops. It's also perplexing because these 2 aren't the biggest stars in the game but they changed the game completely....well at least part of it.

Republican / Democrat
I recently changed my voter's registration card from Democrat to Independent. I never really thought about it until my woman brought it up but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. Why affiliate yourself with a group that you may or may not agree with. I may agree with a certain candidate but the party as a whole I may not see eye to eye with. What if a Democratic candidate comes along and says "all people with brown eyes pay x amount in taxes. All people with green eyes pay x amount in taxes." Are you gonna go with it just because you are affiliated with that party? I think not. My example may have been extreme but the point was given I believe.

12 Society
12 Society is a company that sends out boxes to their monthly subscribers filled with items allegedly picked by their celebrity staff of; Nick Cannon, NAS, Michael Strahan, Blake Griffen, Kevin Love and Tim Lincecum. 2 entertainers and 4 athletes seems very unbalanced to me. When I signed up for the service none of these names were attached to the brand. I liked it like that. Now it feels like they are trying too hard. I never looked at Nick Cannon and said to myself "oh man, I wish Nick Cannon of DrumLine fame would pick out some cool shit for me every month and send it to my house." I've never said that ever. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE (with the exception of NAS) ARE COOL ENOUGH TO PICK OUT SHIT FOR ME. This is Blake Griffen's 2nd year in the league what cool shit does he have to give? 2 rubber Iphone 4 cases that oddly enough bare his last name? WEAK. How about one of those Kia's I see you pushing in them commercials slick. How about some cool comfortable socks or something.
Tim Lincecum puts in there some hot sauce that he makes. Dude I don't even know who you are man. Friggen Strahan gives out a ear and nose trimmer...cool....the next box comes this guy gives ANOTHER EAR AND NOSE TRIMMER!! FUCK YOU STRAHAN! Which goes back to my highlighted allegedly from earlier. If he knew what was going in the boxes why would you put the same product in the box after just putting on a month before. Allegedly NAS puts in a ugly ass pair of Creative Recreations. Mr. "Im'ma NIKE HEAD" himself. I honestly can't name what team Kevin Love is on, I only know that he plays Basketball and he recently won an Olympic Gold Medal in the August Box there were a pair of generic sunglasses "designed" by Kevin Love. Nowhere on the glasses do they say "Kevin Love," or any brand. For all I know they are a $5 pair of glasses from Urban Outfitters. How cool would it be to have an exclusive pair of frames designed by 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Kevin Love?! That you could actually prove. Jordan's say Jordan on them...I'm Just Saying.
The only thing that I have really enjoyed and put to some use is from the first box. The Incase Headphones is the best item from the subscription. Coming in 2nd would be the "Kevin Love" glasses that I have worn maybe 3 times. The rest of the box I find pretty useless. Energy Sheets loaded with Caffeine...I'd rather have SK energy shots for that...why you ask? Well, 1) the proceeds help feed hungry children. 2) it doesn't taste like an old motel curtain. Oh and that dumb ass Rumba watch that I couldn't fit. I have hands the size of a baby's chest plus I doubt half those celebrity panel dudes could even fit that thing. The watch has a cool premise but it also has a subscription aspect to it as well NO THANKS. They offer free and easy returns but don't tell you how. Also what if I like one thing in the box I'm sure I can't return everything else and except a refund of any sort.
Where's Pharrell (Karmaloop), where's D - Wade, David Beckham, Jon Hamm something! This next box they send out better have something atleast moderately cool or you can count my subscription is good as cancelled.

Post of the Day
Post of the Day will be anything that I see while on Facebook or Twitter that is either funny to me or entertaining in some type of way.
The reason Pharaoh Ze has received post of the day is:
A) Snow on the Bluff had some people think that it was real. I don't know how they don't understand that its a movie, but yes some people really thought/think it's real.
B) The geographical part of the aforementioned Light Rail stop is pretty thoughtful and courteous as to not hinder other from getting where they need to get while you decapitate yourself.

Chopped: Home Edition
Chopped is a show where 4 chefs battles one another using ingredients that are unknown to them until the time of the battle. The chefs must create an appetizer, entree and dessert. One chef is eliminated after every round. My woman set up a Chopped Arena for me and here is how it went.
Round 1 ingredients: 2 boiled eggs, 1 hash brown, and Swiss cheese. There was an ingredient that I could use in any round but only once being English Muffins.
With 20 minutes on the clock I had to decide fairly quickly what I was going to make with these ingredients. I decided on a Deviled Egg Potato Hash. I cooked the Hash brown, cut it and added the cheese. Then added that to the removed eggs yolks and placed that mixture inside the egg whites.
Success
Round 2 ingredients: 2 filets of Tilapia, diced clams, Tostitos cheese and Sour Cream.
After finally opening the can of clams (stupid can opener), I decided to put them in a pot with lemon juice, honey and some red wine. Additionally I had a pot with frying oil going just in case I had to fry something. For the tilapia I really didn't have a clue what to make, so I threw it in a pan and thought about rice. I knew rice would take too long to cook so I threw in some grits. I mixed the sour cream with a spoonful of a sort of Indian bouillon and just hoped that it A) tasted good and B) the grits cooked in the time allotted (30 minutes).
After the timer struck the 30 minute mark and I plated the dish I was informed that I forgot an ingredient. The damn CHEESE! I had completely forgot about it. If this was the real show I surely would've been chopped, unless they liked my dish enough to keep me.
There was still another round to go. The dessert round. I've never been a big "I can make dessert" guy so this was going to be tricky.
Round 3 ingredients: 2 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate, a fruit strip (mango), and Tostitos.
First I was thinking cover the Tostitos in chocolate but that didn't solve the mango fruit thing strip problem. I decided to make a simple syrup and hoped that the fruit strip would break down in it in the process and infuse the flavor. I made a double boiler and melted the chocolate. At this point it was a waiting game. I grabbed some cupcake holders and poured some of the chocolate in them then I crushed some of the chips and sprinkled them on top then added another layer of chocolate. Put whipped cream on top and placed the mango syrup on top of that. While the dish was successful I was a bout 3 minutes too late.
This was a great challenge with very difficult but usable ingredients. Besides some major missteps I believe I did fairly well. Thanks to my woman for setting it up, it was definitely fun and nerve racking at the same damn time.

Louis
Louie is a mix between Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm but darker...very dark. Louie CK has written for the Chris Rock show and many different shows and movies. This show is about a divorced comedian with 2 kids just living in NY doing gigs. It's like if Seinfeld didn't make it. He is just a regular guy. It's not a "haha" comedy it's more of an observational comedy, which is fine by me b/c I really don't laugh at shows anyway. This show is created and financed by Louie himself. Companies weren't green lighting shows that he wanted to make, so he used his own money to make the show he wanted. And it paid off!

Movie Run Down
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is a you got what you came for type of film. The title itself is foolery and that is what the film becomes. It's hard even to take it seriously as an action film because it's just so over the top. They mix in real events of Abe's life and throw in some Vampires to style it up. If this was Abraham Lincoln Dinosaur Hunter it might have been better. If it was Abraham Lincoln Coin Collector it might have been better. The last straw was when 50 + year old Abe picked up his axe to fight again and was jumping on top of moving train cars to defeat hoards of Vampires. Honest Abe my ass.
This will go down as one of Will's worst movies. A flop. After being away from movies for 4 years while he let his kids take over Hollywood, Will kinda lost a bit of stride. That ole Will Smith humor just didn't snap like it used to. The thing about being away so long is when you come back it will either seem refreshing or have no rhythm, unfortunately the latter wins with this. The story is bland, the action is bland, the whole damn thing is bland. Sad part is, it's not a bad movie, it's just not as good as it should have been and I think they knew it. The whole time while promoting the film they only talked about how good of a job Josh Brolin did impersonating Tommy Lee Jones. And while it was a great impersonation the rest of the movie just fell short. And the whole going back in time thing??!??!?!? Come on people. Come on.
This was a good movie, bullshit in most places but good none the less. The way he tracks down the kidnappers and escapes most situations were very far fetched but entertaining. Liam Neeson also has the voice of like Jesus or something. I just don't get making a part 2 to this film. Esp with the angle being revenge. Albanians drugged and kidnapped this dudes daughter and tried to sell her in the sex trade and you want revenge because he killed a few of your guys? Sounds dumb but Hollywood wants that $$$ so Taken part 2 this Fall. Also, at the end, his daughter was too well adjusted from just being fed heroin, kidnapped and rescued from a sex cartel to be smiling and jumping around hugging people. I mean her homegirl was killed and she was kinda like ehh oh well I'm back home. There was no regard for human suffering at the end. But I'm just a guy.
Ehhhh. It's like Salt. Story made no sense and it was just dumb. Fight scenes were dope. Too much of her just chilling with the other family though. That was about 30 minutes of the film they could have cut out. It did nothing for the elevation of the story. Her father beat the shit out of everybody only to lose to the one person that couldn't fight!!!! Give me a 100 breaks. Skip this shit.
Ok I think Sherlock and Watson got something going on between them. Sherlock seems sweet on ole Watson. But that's neither hear nor there. Alien vs. Prometheus
I saw Prometheus this past Saturday and was asked did I ever see Alien by Dj Craigo Gettems. I haven't, so then I did. And ehh. Both movies are pretty "ehhh" in my book. Alien takes place in 2037 ish and Prometheus in 2086-2094. Both are stories of deception. Both crews in both movies think that they are going to explore the planet (which is really a Moon) for a different reason and both crews are deceived by Androids on the crew.
Alien was kind of slow and boring to me. The whole 1st hour nothing happens. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Then while exploring a scorpion crab spider like thing jumps on this dudes face. Ripley says don't let it on the ship ... The dude Ash says let it on the ship. And they let it on the ship. Fatally Flaw and stupid mistake number one. Don't let the Android tell you what to do. That's the thing that killed everybody, letting it on the ship. But if that hadn't have happen no movie right?! Right!
During their exploration they come across a ship and a creature in a chair telescope thing that they figure has been dead for a long long time. Fast forward to Prometheus and we learn next to nothing about these creatures. We know that they are Albino, about 7 feet tall and they hate Humans. Prometheus has no focus its everywhere but at the end of the movie you're left empty like what happened.
Odd thing is, both movies had secret agendas which were to basically get samples of the aliens, but neither of the ships had a containment space for them.
Waste of 4 hours.

The Avengers
Everyone seems to love this film. Everyone but me. I mean it's a good movie but nothing to flip out about. The 2h 30m run time alone is enough to make you think twice about seeing it in the theater. The 1st Iron Man was better than this. Captain America was surprisingly better than this. The 2nd Hulk movie was almost better than this. Hawkeye??!! Really?! Hawkeye?! Listen I like Hawkeye...in his element, but when you are the "guy with the arrows," it kinda makes you a lame duck. He was really only used for a plot device. He was introduced in the Thor movie just to use him in the Avengers film. I think the only reason they threw him in there is b/c they don't own Spider-Man or the X-Men or the Fantastic Four. And really Loki again? We just had Loki as the villain! Hulk was the only entertaining part of this film. Captain America is not only a bore but he has this since of entitlement that he should have known that he had. He was frozen for like 60... 70 years but its not like that sense of time hit him, so the idea that he feels older and called the one guy "son," is simply unbelievable. Black Widow?!! Come on man. They could have cut out about 45 minutes of this film and it still would have been just ok. I really don't know why people are jizzing in their jeans about this movie. But ppl seem to love it and it made several boat loads of money, so let the sequels come.

Moneyball

As much as I enjoy Brad Pitt as an actor this film was just ok. The last 3 minutes of the movie shows why it was up for an Oscar. The dialogue between him and his daughter was the best part of the film. The real guy that Jonah Hill played didn't want anything to do with the movie after the producers wanted to change key things in the story. So ultimately what we have here is art intimidating life, interrupted by some made up shit. This film made Billy Bean look like the greatest Dad and the biggest loser. And that's fine I guess, you just kept hoping that something good would happen for this guy. When he gets a huge opportunity to move to Boston to work for the Red Sox he doesn't take it and other people use his formula all over the league for themselves. Oh moral compass, it may have lead you down the wrong path Mr. Bean. But who knows.

Officially Unofficial (Silence Of the Lions)
The fact is most people don't care about the NBA until the playoffs. In fact I didn't care about the lockout at all. They could have stayed out the entire season as far as I was concerned. But due to the shortened season it seems like the playoffs have come in the blink of an eye. I think that... and this comes from a place knowing how the world works, since the season was shorter the officials have to cheat more. WHOA! WHOA! DRAG what are you saying?! I mean read this if you need more info, but bottom line is officials cheat. They can change the outcome of a game no questions asked. This playoff season there seems to be a lot more of the officials not letting the players play. It's really evident in the Miami games. Some calls you say to yourself "ehh ok whatever." But in the playoffs man you are supposed to let the lions roar. I feel the lions are being silenced for the sake of personal gain. Just the fact that 5 people on the Clippers team got Technical fouls the other night is pretty ridiculous.
I'm not sure (though a different animal completely) if even that many people got Tech's in the Pacers v. Pistons Brawl. Ejecting Rondo from the game for him showing emotion in the middle of a heated and bad call. It just looks fishy. The extra crazy thing about that eject was the refs back was turned so he really didn't know what part of his body touched him. That could have been Rondo's hand on his back trying to talk to him. He didn't even see what or who it was, he just threw him out?? Seems odd. In the Miami series anytime anybody touches LeBron (Floppy) James he gets the call. This is a full contact sport and it is being mangled by bad...scratch that over officiating. It def seems like they want Miami in the finals, but do they want them to win? I guess we will see.
