The Avengers
Everyone seems to love this film. Everyone but me. I mean it's a good movie but nothing to flip out about. The 2h 30m run time alone is enough to make you think twice about seeing it in the theater. The 1st Iron Man was better than this. Captain America was surprisingly better than this. The 2nd Hulk movie was almost better than this. Hawkeye??!! Really?! Hawkeye?! Listen I like Hawkeye...in his element, but when you are the "guy with the arrows," it kinda makes you a lame duck. He was really only used for a plot device. He was introduced in the Thor movie just to use him in the Avengers film. I think the only reason they threw him in there is b/c they don't own Spider-Man or the X-Men or the Fantastic Four. And really Loki again? We just had Loki as the villain! Hulk was the only entertaining part of this film. Captain America is not only a bore but he has this since of entitlement that he should have known that he had. He was frozen for like 60... 70 years but its not like that sense of time hit him, so the idea that he feels older and called the one guy "son," is simply unbelievable. Black Widow?!! Come on man. They could have cut out about 45 minutes of this film and it still would have been just ok. I really don't know why people are jizzing in their jeans about this movie. But ppl seem to love it and it made several boat loads of money, so let the sequels come.

Comic Book Week Final Day -- #1's
Thee X-Teens of the future. Foil cover made it nice. They went to bars and got drunk off of milk. That's a wild future.
FOIL COVER!!! This blew my mind when I first got it, it was just put together nicely. Great art and a great story.
I've never read this. Hawkeye is one of my favorite characters though. Bow and arrows are dope.
Gambit!!! That's all.
Thee original X-Force! Shatterstar, Cable, Boomer, Cannonball, Feral, Sunspot, Richter! Excellence.
Eh.
Ehh.
Aquaman kicked his ass but I still like him better!

Number 1 spot!

Day 4 --- Marvel Vs. DC

Somewhere in the mid 90's the two comic book universes crossed over and The Amalgam Universe was born (if not short lived). This epic battle put Wolverine vs. Lobo, Storm vs. Wonder Woman, The Flash vs. Quicksilver, Superman vs. the Hulk and more. With a few DC victories Marvel stood on top as the overall winner.
After the battle certain characters were merged together for some interesting combinations. Batman/Wolverine made up "Dark Claw." The X-Men and Justice League made JLX.

Comic Book Week DAY 2

Things I find funny about comic books is that they can kill off anybody for any reason and then bring then back. Somehow Colossus died and then somewhere along the line someone thought to bring him back, and without any explanation whatsoever he returned almost out of thin air and no one questioned it.

Then you have those issues that go kinda wasted even if its some sort of social message in it. Like this issue where Alpha Flight member NorthStar pretty much comes out the the closet to his sister.

This I believe is the oldest comic I have. I think it's from 1978 or so. I've never read it though. Not much of a DC fan, its just too corny.

So what happens when your body gets snatched and goes on a crazed rampage? Ask Psylocke ooooooooooor ask Wolverine as he is being held hostage. Another character killed and bought back several times.

Comic Book Week!!!
When I was little I used to hit up Geppi's at the Harbor all the time for the newest Marvel cards and comics. Then I used to cop Ultra Fleer cards at Eastpoint Mall from this stand for 4 bucks a pack and trade 'em in middle school. Then my Pop bought me a couple whole sets of series. I don't really read them anymore (Except for DEADPOOL) or follow any of the story lines but I COLLECT!
So Here We Go!
500th issue of Spider Man -- I'm not really much of a Spider-Man reader but he comes through every now and again.

This issue Spidey contemplates quittin the game but we all know that the hustle never stops.
Just a dope Wolverine cover. However he ends up looking like Lobo.
The only Aquaman comic I have and he is fighting off a giant crab....sounds like he needs to go to the clinic to me but what do I know. Anyhow I think Entourage should have actually spun off to make this a movie even though it was a running joke in the series I think followers of the show would have thought it was cool and supported the movie.
Back tomorrow with more!

Last Emperor - Secret Wars
While his album was very unmemorable The Last Emperor made one of the best rap songs ever in 1999 titled Secret Wars. It was a play on the Marvel Comic series of the same name where different characters were pitted against one another to see who would be the victor. The Last Emperor puts rappers against the comic book characters in a vivid and exciting display of words and creativity. He goes off track a bit with the Ninja Turtle and G.I. Joe refs but hey still a great song.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

I love fighting games, and the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise is a pretty great one.....but this one is sort of lacking. The story is pretty much non-existent but that's not really relevant. The gameplay is awesome. The online mode is great with the exception that you can't see the game being played unless you're playing in that particular match. What really gets me is the character selection. They scaled back alot in this installment and it seems like key character from the Marvel side are missing. It would be great if Venom, Carnage, Silver Surfer, DareDevil, Cable, Psylocke, MegaMan, The Mandarin, SabreTooth, Strong Guy....I could go on. But, when I see characters like Arthur and Tron its like super weird and gimmicky. But all in all the game is fantastic, just a few minor character flaws.

DRAG SMASH!!!

Man this Hulk is ill. He looks cooler, and is destroying stuff. Ed Norton plays a great Dr. Banner, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth both play excellent roles as well. It seems that Marvel is getting its act together (finally). They are making good movies, that follow the comics and also give it a new twist but one that does not alienate the comic crowd. The Tony Stark cameo was expected but was still great when it happened. The final fight was killer and it definitely makes you look forward to a sequel and upcoming (and by upcoming I mean...3 years away) "Avengers" Movie.
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

I Still Am NOT Iron Man (I'm War-Machine)

Iron-Man is officially the illest movie of the year thus far. It was wonderfully written, directed and acted. John Favreau directed this movie beautifully. It seems very odd when you 1st hear that he is going to direct this big budget action comic book movie, but he killed it! Every Marvel movie needs this type of hype and execution. The X-Men series is a disappointment and the last Spider-Man was pretty weak. I'm not even going to mention Elektra and Daredevil. The kicker of this is the excellent cast. At first when thinking about Robert Downey Jr. as Iron-Man, or as a Super hero in general, it sounds pretty absurd. But then it makes perfect sense when explored further.
Gwyneth Paltrow was hot, the red hair was a good look. The final fight scene was amazing, action packed, intense, but not drawn out to the point of exhaustion. The ending was very very appropriate.
Only things I kinda disagreed with:
I shoulda played James Rhodes. T- Howard is that dude. Im just saying, I been repping War-Machine for years, its only right. The dudes from S.H.I.E.L.D. were too suity. I'm thinking that Sam Jackson who was supposedly going to be in the movie was going to play G.W. Bridge and not Nick Fury as rumored. But he didn't show up in the movie at all. Ghostface Killa also got cut from the final version of the movie.
More Marvel movies def need to go in this direction. I say, pay Favreau until the movies start to suck, b/c more than half of the Marvel Movies do anyway.
So until I ever care about a Super-Man movie...Make mine Marvel

I Am Iron-Man...kinda

One of my a.k.a.'s used to be (maybe still is) War-Machine which is Iron-Man's homie James Rhodes....U don't wanna comic book trivia with me, believe it! So as you can clearly see I am kinda Iron-Man. When I heard they were making an Iron-Man movie I believe I crapped my pants alittle. Then they said Robert Downey Jr. was going be Tony Stark...i was confused and bewildered. Then I started seeing the previews for it and I crapped my pants alittle. Then they're were rumors that Ghostface has a cameo...man it keeps getting better. Then recently I see the date and realize that coming out in like 3 weeks. GREAT NEWS!! Comic book movies are very hit and miss but when done right they are beautiful. I.e. Batman, Batman Begins, Spider-Man, the old Super-Man (the 1st two), and the Fantastic Four films (yeah i said it). Daredevil made my sad inside....it had good intentions but it just wasn't executed well. X-Men movies kinda suck... none of them are really that good, but they aren't horrible either. And with more comic book movies on the horizon (Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, Captain Damn America (they better do that one right this time!!!), The Punisher (yes another one, they never get those right),and Wolverine) one can only hope, pray, and believe that your favorite comic books will get its shine on the silver screen.
