Mamma Mia

1st your thinking why is DRAG writing about Mamma Mia. Honestly, I am too kinda. I'm not really from that world where I am well versed in musicals, and I'm pretty glad about that. From my understanding Mamma Mia is about a daughter that wants to know who her father is. Her mother doesn't know for sure, but has 3 candidates. All of this goes on the the theme of ABBA's greatest hits. This is one of the most anticipated musicals of the year. Ok cool.
Now lets flip it and make the cast all black. How many protests and Jesse Sharpton (yes Jesse Sharpton...they should have surgery to merge into one person.) speeches would we have to sit through. Jesse would wanna cut the director's nuts off. The NAACP would call it buffoonery, Oprah would frown upon the open promiscuity of the character, and claim that its an attack on the perception of black women. And it would probably still do half decent at the box office. But look at all it had to go through.
That said to say this. Black people put all this extra pressure on ourselves, we scrutinize US. WE make a big deal of things that other people probably aren't even paying attention too. Or at least they weren't...until we point it out and make a big deal of it. Enjoy.

That's a spicy meatball

Black Super Man

Finally its a black superhero movie that people can actually sit through. Through a conversation with Ms. Belton, she said that she was not really moved to see "Hancock" and used the examples of "BlankMan" as why she shouldn't. BlankMan came out 14 yrs ago and was more of a comedy than a viable superhero film. Also, Meteor Man which came out in 1993 which was a more serious film but Hollywood was not truly behind it, and the climate of Hollywood was much different. Not to say that Hancock is a role model or is an upstanding citizen with great morals, but imagine if you were a superhero. At least Hancock has real dude problems. Cause i'm sure saving people at 4am isn't the most fun thing in the world. Getting shot at constantly, no pay, always being scrutinized for your actions...etc. The movie which made 107 million in 4 days also got bad reviews. Sure some things could have been explained further, and at times it made no sense....but does X-Men make sense...no....Spider-Man ...no....SuperMan....hell no. Hopefully this will open the door for more good black super hero movies. Black Panther?? Luke Cage hopefully thats good..too bad its got something to do with prison....ahh well. Its a step I guess. Please don't make a Storm movie...ever.

Thus Ending Game Week

The Best game site (to me) is Kongregate.com. It has thousands of games, has a game of the week feature every week, lets you earn badges and points, and has an online card game (whenever it's finished). The game of the week features new badges and cards upon completion of certain tasks. It has online chat, shows the top scores of the game you are currently playing, lets you learn about new games and gives you incentive to play old games to receive the badges and points.

Play On Playa!

King.com is good for old people who wanna play games. The games are ok...the usual stuff you see, but they offer rewards like online chat and create an avatar for collecting stars from the games...pretty lame I know.

Mini-Clip.com is a great site that offers many genres of games in a wide variety. All of their games are pretty good and they don;t have many crappy flash games like some sites...their games are pretty high quality and it is easy to maneuver on the site.

Armorgames.com is a good site too, you just have to weed out all the lame games and find the ones worth playing.

Nintendo 8 lets you play NES games with ease. They have a wide variety of original Nintendo titles and are easily playable with the "Z" and "X" buttons and the arrow keys. The only real downside is that you end up playing the game backward because the controls are switched, but its still a good time had.

Everyvideogame.com is just about the same deal, though its a bit more tedious to navigate through the site. They have many old Nintendo titles and the controls are just about the same as
Nintendo 8's.

The 9 Seasons

C-Love had an event last night @ the 5 Seasons. Lots of people were out. Ahk, OGUN, B-Fly, G.E.M., Barnes, Real 2 Real, Big Moon, and others I am sure. M.O.L. was on stage when I got there. They had two songs that really stuck out, but way too many dudes on stage as decoration. Real 2 Real & Big Moon took the stage and ripped it. They were promoting their upcoming album "The Big PUSH." The songs they did were banging. After that there was a battle between some dude and some dude. The one dude was super wack and crying like a baby about everything, the other dude was killing it in every category. But I guess crying prevailed b/c the cry baby won. I watched dude get robbed right in front of my eyes it was amazing. Wackness Wins!

??? I AM PUZZLED???

When did local artist mixtapes start costing 10 friggen bucks. Dudes have gotten super bold these days. Actual albums come out and are $10 the first week they come out. Why in the crap would I pay $10 for your mixtape. Especially if it has horrible cover art and only 10 songs, one of which someone actually likes and 3 of them are already on your Myspace page for free...I don't get it. Then...then, they have the nerve to look at you like your not supporting them...support yourself hippie. I'm all for music, I love it, but at some point you gotta give me a break. But if you can get people to do it by all means do, I'm just saying don't come my way with that homie.

Shaq is a wild boy! So after Kobe and them lose to the Celtics, Shaq gets on stage and freestyles about Kobe. I give it to him he was flowing, but Big Man said some things that as a man you have to answer for one day. Be it on the court or maybe even Kobe will put out a record. He is gonna do something I'm sure b/c he has been hanging out with those dudes from Jackass and I think he likes the attention. AND THEN Shaq goes on Sports Center and says he was just playing. Crank Dat!!

So for some reason Ice-T of all people puts out a video talking bad against the homie Soulja Boy. I think he is mad because Lil Ice knows more Soulja Boy songs then he does his pop's. Ice - T talks out of line against SB. Instead he should be happy that the kid is making money and not in the street hustling. If Ice -T has a problem with the "killing of Hip-Hop" (which was really only propaganda for Nas' album) then he should be mad at Yung Joc, D4L, Dem Franchise Boys, and others, not just a 17 year old kid. And 50 cent likes the kid too so Ice-T might have alot on his hands now. Ice is kinda lucky that he isn't popular anymore b/c he'd have every young kid booing him every night. Soulja Boy may not be the hip-hop that some people like but he is hip-hop. Just b/c he isn't making make believe raps about how many people he killed, and how much drugs he sells Ice-T doesn't approve....right. Soulja Boy might be the freshman to Ice-T's senior but it seems Ice-T is the one who needs to grow up.

It seems that Marvel is getting its act together (finally). They are making good movies, that follow the comics and also give it a new twist but one that does not alienate the comic crowd. The Tony Stark cameo was expected but was still great when it happened. Good Good Lemonade!

Its been a wild news day. Today R. Kelly was found not guilty of ...well you know. Guard the kids Kelly's on he loose. You know he is gonna act a fool now that this is over. B/c the "mole" on the dude's back seen in the tape was not present on Kelly's body they dropped everything. Ok Ok...just saying what if the "mole" on dudes back wasn't a mole at all but instead a lint ball or something stuck to his back. AND...if that wasn't Kelly, who the hell was it having sex with an under aged teen in the video...hmmm. That person should have been on trial. Wasting R. Kelly's damn time with this crap. Don't people know he has stuff to do. Like sing about how good his "lemonade" is, and add more chapters to Trapped in the Closet, so it can be made into a Broadway Musical (I bet plenty of people would go see it).

I honestly ask what is the point of it all. The trial has been delayed for 10 years plenty of time of get a great case together point blank to lock him up. Yet again they fall short in 12 days. So I have to ask....is this all pretend fairyland or something. Michael Jackson on trial and has been accused of things for years...nothing! And plenty of other "celebrities" that seem like they are heading for hard time and end up with nothing. DON'T GET ME WRONG!!!...I don't want anybody locked up, but it seems like either

a) the jury holds a special place in their hearts for celebrities and do not want to lock them up
b) honestly finds them not guilty
c) this is just a real life soap opera for people to watch and follow to get their minds off how the government is screwing us!

I don't know.

Top Ten My Friend

MTV recently put out their view as the Top Ten Best Rappers (currently). Even reading the descriptions and all the nice words they wrote to explain why they chose who they did, it still seems like a lame list. Snoop, really??? There is no possible way Snoop should be on this list. If Snoop is then Busta should be. The Big Bang was way hotter than Ego Trippin'. And The Game could have easily made the list instead of Snoop. I'm not hating on Snoop, I like him, I do, but top ten....NAWH! 50 cent...50 CENT!!! Huh!!! For what reason beyond they needed another rapper from the East Coast besides Jay-Z in the Top Ten? If they are going for the most money, Ok i get it. But "Curtis" was wack...not super wack but pretty lame. Fifty isn't better then Fabolous and I dont even like Fabolous' albums. Joe Budden is sicker then 50.

This one is blasphemous...RICK ROSS....excuse me...RICK ROSS is #4!!!! Who are these people and why are they allowed to make decisions to do anything? I'd take Rich Boy over Ross...Slim Thug over Ross. Rick Ross says the same things on every song the same way everytime. I only like 3 songs on his album. "The Boss," b/c of the beat. "Luxury Tax," b/c of everybody else. And "Maybach Music," b/c of Jay-z. The rest of the list I can pretty much agree with. Lupe should be higher. So they are tellin me Rick Ross is better than Lupe?? Or maybe I'm reading this list wrong. T.I. is better than Jeezy all day. Jay-z still kills. 3 stacks goes hard when he does go. Kanye is just so creative. Lil Wanye is amusing to say the least. I'd give him #3 that's a good spot. I would have liked to see Common on the list. He had two classic albums back to back. The Game should have been on the list as well with 2 classic albums, dropping the second one under his own roof proved he was better then just a 50 cent hook and Dre beat.

The other list they had is a honorable mention list, which is even more horrible. Shawty Lo?? His name sounds like a term for gay men. Plies?? I just don't get it. Soulja Boy?? I like the kid, but hottest rapper honorable mention...don't know about that. Prodigy...really...P Mobb hasn't been hot since Murda Musick 10 years ago.

And why is MTV putting out a list anyway they don't even play music anymore. Just stick to the "America's Next Top Model" and "The Hills" marathon's. Leave the voting to the citizens. We are the people and MTV is Florida recounting, messing up the numbers.

I Still Am NOT Iron Man (I'm War-Machine)

Iron-Man is officially the illest movie of the year thus far. It was wonderfully written, directed and acted. John Favreau directed this movie beautifully. It seems very odd when you 1st hear that he is going to direct this big budget action comic book movie, but he killed it! Every Marvel movie needs this type of hype and execution. The X-Men series is a disappointment and the last Spider-Man was pretty weak. I'm not even going to mention Elektra and Daredevil. The kicker of this is the excellent cast. At first when thinking about Robert Downey Jr. as Iron-Man, or as a Super hero in general, it sounds pretty absurd. But then it makes perfect sense when explored further.

Gwyneth Paltrow was hot, the red hair was a good look. The final fight scene was amazing, action packed, intense, but not drawn out to the point of exhaustion. The ending was very very appropriate.

Only things I kinda disagreed with:

I shoulda played James Rhodes. T- Howard is that dude. Im just saying, I been repping War-Machine for years, its only right. The dudes from S.H.I.E.L.D. were too suity. I'm thinking that Sam Jackson who was supposedly going to be in the movie was going to play G.W. Bridge and not Nick Fury as rumored. But he didn't show up in the movie at all. Ghostface Killa also got cut from the final version of the movie.

More Marvel movies def need to go in this direction. I say, pay Favreau until the movies start to suck, b/c more than half of the Marvel Movies do anyway.

So until I ever care about a Super-Man movie...Make mine Marvel

WacArnold's

The problem with McDonald's is (where shall I begin):

The service is horrible
. They should get sued for false advertising b/c every commercial has a person who is happy to greet you with a smiling "Welcome to McDonald's".
I have yet to be smiled upon by anyone at McDonald's in my 20 some odd years of patronage.
They hire kids which is cool, its a good starting job to give kids responsibilities and whatnot but they act like they are doing you a favor by taking your order. Most of the kids have lead paint poisoning and/or learning deficiencies. So saying a simple order like "Fish Filet and medium fries" sounds more like "3 piece Chicken Select meal Large Sprite."

Nothing Ever Works.
Try getting an ice cream sundae, just try it I dare you. The response will be. "The machine ain't working." How about a McFlurry or a Milkshake? "That's broke." The drive thru machine hardly ever works and even when it does your still floating on a prayer that they have what your ordering.

What Happened to the great toys they used to give away?
Maybe they were getting sued too much because of the warning of "Beware of small parts," but McDonald's used to have some pretty good toys and collectable glasses and various other merchandise. Nowadays you'll be lucky to get 3 BBQ sauces for your 20 piece nugget.

They Never Have What You Want
. Ice Cream? "Machine's Broke." Apple Pie? "They gone." Quarter Pounder? "The cows quit." Fries? "We ran out of potatoes."

Ok that last instance was maybe a bit extreme, but I'm trying to drive home my point.

McDonald's still may be a powerhouse worldwide, but in the US we have so many other options that are way better. The ads alone for Burger King are 100 times better and "The King" gave Burger King a boost in appeal. Wendy's is cheaper, has a better menu, and way better food. And the list goes on from Chick-Fil-A to Taco Bell. McDonald's need to rethink its branding and get back to its roots, quality food and service with a value price. Then "I'm Lovin' It."
